Terrorist Attack in Garland

Two Phoenix roommates, seemingly linked to ISIS, attacked an American Freedom Defense Initiative cartoon drawing competition. The event was held in Garland, Texas, and was a contest on the best drawing of the prophet Mohammed. Any drawing of the prophet Mohammed is a considered sacrilegious in Islamic religion. The American Freedom Defense Initiative is an active anti-Muslim group.  The two terrorists were armed with assault rifles but couldn’t get past the first line of security. The police officer that was on duty fatally shot the two men with his pistol. No one at the event was killed thanks to the success of the officer, but unfortunately a security guard was wounded. The Council on American-Islamic Relations issued a statement chastising the terrorists, declaring, “Bigoted speech can never be an excuse for violence”.
